Hello and Happy New Year!
Holy cow, 2017 is the 30th Anniversary of In My Tribe! In celebration of that milestone, we will feature many of those songs at our shows this year. Rolling Stone Magazine ranked In My Tribe (Elektra) #65 on their 100 Best Of the Eighties list. “The album gave us a great chance to really coalesce as a band,” said keyboardist Dennis Drew. “At that point we had to save our career and make a good record. We fucking buckled up, tightened our belt and did it.”
We couldn’t do it without you. See you soon!
10,000 Thanks! Mary, Steven, Dennis, Jerome, John, and Jeff.

City Winery Atlanta had some unforeseen challenges getting the venue opened for our June 4th show, so thanks to the very cool and, not to mention, available, Buckhead Theater, our 2 previously sold out shows will now have a few more seats available. go to https://goo.gl/maps/ejPtKQYMJS52 for tickets or visit our tour page.
Here is the press release from City Winery:
Dear ticket holder,
Due to further unavoidable construction delays, we’ve been told to expect our Certificate of Occupancy from the building department on the second week of June. Because of this, the 10,000 Maniacs early show on June 4 has been moved to The Buckhead Theatre. Your seats will be reserved, and we will make sure they are comparable to your original tickets. The show will still take place at 7:00 PM, with a 6:00 PM door time.
We take pride in ensuring your satisfaction and, unfortunately, we did not meet your (or our own) expectations in opening by June 3. Despite this setback, we are committed to providing you with the highest level of service because our ticket holders deserve the very best. We will be sending vouchers for tickets to a non-sold out show based on availability, as well as $50 gift cards to everyone affected by the change to express how grateful we are for your business and support.
We ask that you choose from the following options for your 10,000 Maniacs tickets:
- Keep your tickets and attend the show at the Buckhead Theatre. Physical tickets will be available for pickup at the Buckhead Theatre will-call window on show day.
- Receive store credit for the full value of your original tickets. Store credit can be used towards the purchase of tickets to any upcoming show at City Winery Atlanta, and it does not expire.
- Receive a refund back to your card.
Please let us know your choice by responding to this email. If you have further questions or concerns don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Also included is a LIVE recording of These Are Days from a recent concert.

We’ll be starting a new pledgemusic.com campaign for that with pre-orders and other fun exclusives available. Check out our last pledge campaign, Twice Told Tales. Stay tuned to maniacs.com and our social media splat for more information on that. Guaranteed one real fine time.

We have been so excited for this day to come. It’s taken a year to get TWICE TOLD TALES in the can and we can’t wait for you to hear it. We played a special release show at Record Theater in Buffalo, NY to commemorate the release. We had a lot of friends stop by to enjoy the short concert. We signed many autographs and had great time. Go get TWICE TOLD TALES now!
We’re hard at work rehearsing songs from Twice Told Tales with John Lombardo. We’ve also added Jamestown, NY native and multi-intrumentalist, Amanda Barton, to our shows. She will be playing acoustic guitar, violin and mandolin as well as singing harmonies with Mary Ramsey. Ms. Barton’s first show with us will be Saturday, March 28, 2015 in Riverhead, NY at the Long Island Aquarium Festival. Mr. Lombardo will be joining us April 3, 2015 in Alexandria, VA at The Birchmere and April 4, 2015 in Annapolis, VA at The SOLD OUT Ram’s Head Tavern show.
Our great agent, Bruce Houghton from Skyline Music, is booking our gigs for 2015. We look forward to seeing you all this summer. We’re bring John Lombardo along for a few of the dates and we’ll be featuring songs from Twice Told Tales. Be sure to stop say hello!
10,000 Maniacs at Snow Daze Festival, Vail, CO December 2014
Jamestown, NY – Having conquered the alternative rock world with multi-platinum selling albums and unforgettable singles such as “These Are Days,” 10,000 Maniacs are about to release the most ambitious album of their career, a full-length collection of traditional British Isles folk songs, titled ‘Twice Told Tales’, newly interpreted by the band whose organic, neo-folk sound has influenced countless others.
The official street date for the album is April 28 and will be made available on both CD as well as a special 180-gram 12” vinyl format from Cleopatra Records!
Founding member and keyboardist Dennis Drew explains the germination of the project, “Folk music of all types has been a strong influence on the band. One of the songs on the new record ‘Do You Love An Apple’ has been in our repertoire for 30 years. We’ve also recorded Carter family songs and other American, Irish and British Folk music in the past.” With that experience under wing, the group set out to create an entire album’s worth of modern versions of traditional British folk classics that would fit right alongside the rest of the 10,000 Maniacs’ body of work. “These are timeless melodies,” Drew continues, “Some songs are funny, some are heartbreaking. Most are 100, 200, 300 years old. It’s crazy how they can be turned into 21st century pop songs!”

For a taste of what fans have in store, the band is streaming one full song from the new album, a delightful Irish rhyme “Misty Moisty Morning,” on Soundcloud.
